How important do you think business cards are in Asia?

Click here to find out what a leading Korean newspaper has to say.
"It was wonderful to have the cards for the last trip. Everyone was very impressed and flattered that we had taken the trouble to make them, and it gave all our representatives more prestige to be so well identified as valued members of our team, including our Japanese colleagues. [One of the Ph.D.s] went out of his way to introduce me to all the big-shots at the conference - I think in part so that I could present my card in Japanese. And only two of the speakers from the 2004 meeting were invited to this 2007 conference, so to be one of them is a nice honor for me. Best wishes."

WHAT ARE & WHY
do I need Asian-language
business cards?

Asian Business Cards. It’s How You Take Business Seriously.

It’s a simple fact that in East Asia you need business cards for occasions both formal and informal. It’s not just an optional social grace; it’s mandatory. In the West, recipients often do treat business cards as optional—barely glancing at them or often ignoring them.

But in Asia, shift your mode of thinking. Business cards are freely passed out, received and valued. Business cards have significant cultural and practical value since no business introduction is considered complete until business cards have been exchanged. In Asia, they believe that you don’t take business seriously if you don’t have business cards.

That is why business people in the Far East carry double-sided business cards with them at all times. This way, they are ready to properly introduce themselves to those they meet in the course of work and play and having double-sided cards in the local language and English means they are always prepared to meet both foreigners and fellow countrymen.

Going the extra step and ordering Asian-language business cards shows your partners and hosts that you're serious, and that, as a guest in their country, you understand and respect their culture. This small effort on your part establishes trust and maximizes your opportunities for excellent results.

Asian-language business cards are printed with English on one side and the language of your destination on the other side. Thus, if you're visiting Japan on business, you need Japanese business cards with English on the back. For China or Taiwan, you should have either Simplified or Traditional Chinese business cards. Are you visiting Korea? Then take Korean cards.

Japanese business cards, Chinese business cards and Korean business cards are an investment that will pay off for years to come!
